BiographyBiography

Marjorie is a 16 years-old High School student who proudly represents Clark High School her home town of San Antonio Texas.

At the age of 7, her passion for writing lead to several publications of her poetry beginning in the year 2000. “I Found a Tiny starfish” [an Editor Choice Award] in, Chicken Soup for the Kid’s Soul, and Forgotten Moments: The International Library of Poetry. “Christmas Enlightment” was published in both the Poet’s Anthropology, and Voices, in 2003. “Hurricane,” was published in Voices Along the River, also in 2003. “Laughter,” [an Editor’s Choice award] in The sounds of Poetry, in Press. “Freedom,” in the Big Spring Herald, Big Spring Texas, July 1, 2000.

Marjorie’s main musical instrument is her voice, she is a soprano. She is able to master the stage with a range of notes and genres, her voice has character, she enjoy singing opera classics, Broadway musicals, as well as pop. “Voice is the first, primal instrument bestowed upon us, the one reliable and freeing. To let the music roll off your lips, and let that single note elevate you to a higher place, where only you and yourself lay in a cloud amongst the stars watching the world live on…It is truly amazing how much we sacrifice in service to our egos, but singing, in its entirety is truly something that only brightens the spirit and lets the ego soar. When I sing, I feel love, I feel hate, I feel.”

At age 14, Marjorie recorded her first demo in country and blues by sharing her creativity with Bertram Roberts, M.D. a retired nephrologist who is also a composer of lyrics and music, Bertram played the guitar and Harmonica, Bertram is the Author of "You", "We"ll End Up at Home" and "Why I'm Still Here with you". Bertram and Marjorie unique combination of style and talents is imprinted on Marji's first demo.

She recently began a lifelong dream of composing her own music. “The piano is one of the only places I can call mine, the one where love vs. hate, and abandonment versus connectedness lives. Every key on the piano holds a feeling, and that is how it should be played. To truly “understand” the culmination of one’s thoughts, emotions, and actions is a lofty goal that I try to achieve each time I sit down and play music.

In musical theatre In Bradley Middle school she played the lead role of “Joan of Arc,” at a Medieval Festival and her role in the “Deviners” play was the sole singing role. During the North East Independent School District’s Fall Speech tournament, Marji earned first place for Poetry Reading (The Raven, by Edgar Allen Poe). She won second place modern oratory in her speech, “Does Terrorism Justify Limiting People’s Rights?”

Marjorie has distinguished herself a very young age at multiple disciplines. She started with ballet at age 3, later she studied tap, jazz, and “Hip-Hop.” As she describes it, “The switch in the switch leap, the precision of every turn, every smile, something rehearsed until the dance’s emotion screams through the sharpness, the message. The most soothing therapy is the one that comes from the creativity and enlightenment of the self. To just let go, and for once, take off your mask and see the world for what it is and finally, after tiresome journeys, let the world see you, raw and uncut; this is what makes it all worthwhile for me.”

Marjorie is versatile and articulate, She is aware of the importancy of science when pursuing any career, at age 14 she expressed ”Einstein’s theories of relativity, Steven Hawkins, Newton, especially Quantum physics, someone once told me, "If you understand Quantum Physics and aren’t boggled by them, then you don’t understand Quantum Physics." I’ve especially been reading up on Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle which says that the more you know about the velocity of an electron/proton the less you know about its location. It’s truly quite intriguing.
You can feel the energy and the forceful spirit of this young intelligent woman, breaking through art.
